Volkswagen Africa has announced about teaming up with the Government of Egypt. This partnership is all about building new and advanced automotive manufacturing facilities in the country.
The agreement was signed during a special conference in Cairo in June 2024. This is a huge step for Volkswagen Group Africa as they plan to set up shop in Egypt’s East Port Said Automotive Zone (EPAZ). This zone is known for being in a great location and having a good business environment.
Who’s Involved?
The agreement was signed by important people like Waleid Gamal Eldien and Ayman Soliman. They are working together to build Body Shop and Assembly Line buildings in the EPAZ. Other important people at the signing ceremony were Dr Ahmed Fikry, Martina Biene, and Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly.
What’s Next?
This partnership is a big deal because it will bring a lot of progress. They are going to study building an automotive painting facility in the same zone as part of Egypt’s Automotive Industry Development Programme (AIDP). This program is all about making cars in Egypt better and more environmentally friendly.
Agreement Strategy
Volkswagen Group Africa is excited about this new agreement. They are using a smart investment model that focuses on efficiency. This means they can concentrate on what they do best and not worry too much about spending a lot of money. Biene said, “We are happy to work with the Egyptian government on this study. It fits with our goal of being a big part of Egypt’s car industry.”
The Government of Egypt is setting up a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to help build the new facilities. Volkswagen Group Africa will use these resources to make cars that Egyptian people will love. The partnership is all about making Egypt’s car industry better and help the country grow. They want to create jobs, bring new technology, and boost the local car industry. This will help Egypt’s economy get even stronger.
