German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India has launched its two new top-end variants, the 450 4MATIC (Petrol) & 400 d 4MATIC (Diesel), priced at US$117,631.41 and US$119,124.04 respectively (all prices are ex-showroom, India, except Kerala).
As per the company, it has introduced the EQ Boost technology for the first time in an SUV in India. The SUVs are powered by an in-line six-cylinder engine systematically electrified with 48-volt technology. While GLE 450 4MATIC LWB produces an output of 270 kW (367 hp) and 500 Nm of torque, with an additional 250 Nm of torque and 16 kW/22 hp available via EQ Boost over short periods. The new GLE 400 d 4MATIC LWB produces an output of 243 kW (330 hp) & 700 Nm of Torque.
Both the SUV variants can accelerate from 0-100 km/hour in 5.7 seconds, as per the company statement. The current LWB GLE range comprises the BS-VI GLE 300 d 4MATIC LWB and the top-end CBU GLE 400 d 4MATIC LWB Hip Hop variants.
Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “The new GLE LWB has already excited the market and has a three-months waiting period. With the introduction of a petrol model, we expect it to further drive its popularity and cater to the requirements of those customers who waited for a petrol model. It remains our endeavour to keep renewing our portfolio at regular intervals to meet customers’ preference.”
The luxury carmaker has also announced financial benefits on the newly launched SUVs. STAR EASE service packages for the new GLE 450 start at US$1,029.04 for 2 years and unlimited kms. For GLE 400 d is US$1,181.93 for 2 years and unlimited kms.
The two new variants offer safety features like 7 airbags, active brake assist, blind spot assist as a standard across variants. Other features include Mercedes-Benz MBUX system with interior assistant, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps with ULTRA RANGE High beam, Intelligent Headlight Control Plus, Auto Park Assist 360 degree surround view camera, 50.8 cm (20-inch) 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, amongst others.
